Scars from acne can be a frustrating and painful reminder of the acne breakout. Moreover, the scars left behind are tougher to treat than acne lesions. The acne scars develop as a result of the inflammation around the acne lesion.

It causes extensive damage to the surrounding skin tissue. Undoubtedly, acne breakouts and the resulting scars can dent your confidence levels. Dermatologists at Manhattan Med Spa possess extensive experience in treating acne scars with the subcision procedure.

Overview of subcision for acne scars

Subcision, also known as subcutaneous incisionless surgery, is a minimally-invasive surgical procedure. The primary objective of this surgical method is to treat depressed acne scars. The acne scars treated by our dermatologists with the subcision method are typically rolling scars.

During the procedure, we will use a nokor needle, cannula, or hypodermic needle to puncture the skin’s surface. The sharp edge of this needle will destroy the fibrotic strands of tissue that are surrounding the top layers of the skin. Once this bond is broken, your skin will create a substantial amount of collagen. Moreover, you will notice a gradual improvement in your overall appearance.
